COUNTDOWN ~ $10 Quilt

DAY 358

The infamous Ten Dollar Quilt - On the second Saturday of each month, my sister and I visit The Quilting Bee in Fonthill to hear about the newest quilting tools and fabrics that have arrived in the store. Also, we receive the pattern sheet and snippets of fabric for our next block. There are rules: This is a $10 quilt - this is the initial lay out of funds (applicable taxes extra). We are to bring our 9" finished block to the monthly meet where we get the details of the next months block at no charge. If you don't finish your block or miss a meeting you must pay $10 to receive the fabric and directions from the missed meeting. You inevitably will purchase more fabric because you will need borders and backing. Still a thrifty way to make a quilt. Plus...quality time with my sister to put the block together and do it all over again next month.

There is method to the madness. You want to try the new innovative rulers that make your quilting life that much easier or purchase fabric "just because". Take advantage of sales - kits, thread, books, patterns, needles....the list is endless!

If you are a quilter or an arts and crafts enthusiast you will understand the drooling reflex when you touch the fabric, see the colours and envision the possibilities.
